Let's Write to Congress (www.congress.org):
Dear Representative:
The New York Times recently printed a ridiculous article comparing
jihadists with Catholics. Well, no, there might be those who call
themselves Catholic but have non-Catholic attitudes, beliefs and behavior
(personal sin), but that does not change the Catholic faith. The Catholic
faith is not a democracy, it transcends culture and race but at the same
time influences and sanctifies cultures. Islam demands the supremacy of
Islam over other faiths and the conquering and subjugation of non-Muslims.
The Catholic Faith consists of the Bible and the tradition of Jesus'
Apostles (in terms of the seven sacraments and interpretations of Jesus'
teaching, as the Bible says they were taught clearly in private). The
Catholic church also has the examples of the saints (holy people deemed
saints - those God confirms by at least three miracles are in heaven and
who had heroic faith and are worthy of imitation). Islam has the Quran
(Mohammad's rewritten Bible) and for its ultimate example the life,
sayings, and actions of Mohammad, as written in the Sunnah/Haddith. The
Catholic Faith teaches the equal dignity of men and women. Islam teaches
that men are superior to women and the masters of women, the Quran saying
husbands can "plow your fields [wives] as you see fit." The Catholic faith
teaches the individual responsibility of each person before God and that
Jesus was the Paschal Lamb who died so that we could be forgiven of the
evil we do and have a relationship with God through Jesus' sacrifice. In
Islam, the only sure way to get to (a sexual) heaven is to die
killing/fighting violent jihad. The two faiths are not the same.
