Regarding Halal

Halal in the U.S.:

The USDA (http://www.fsis.usda.gov/Frame/FrameRedirect.asp?main=http://www.fsis.usda.gov/OPPDE/rdad/FRPubs/2011-0001.htm) recognizes the Codex General Guidelines (http://www.codexalimentarius.net/web/index_en.jsp), which define halal certification.  The USDA requires foreign labeling of halal to contain a translation and then name of the certifying body (http://askfsis.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1373/related/1) and oversees halal labeling.  The USDA does not, however, certify any product as halal.

According the the American Halal Association (http://www.halalfoundation.org/index.htm), the requirements for products to be "certified" halal are below.  Notice the "must be Muslim" requirement.  But, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (http://www.eeoc.gov/laws/types/religion.cfm), "An employee cannot be forced to participate (or not participate) in a religious activity as a condition of employment."   How is halal ritual of the entire process not an imposition on the non-Muslim employees?
Also, the goal of the American Halal Association (http://www.halalfoundation.org/certProcess.htm) is to elevate the halal "industry."  It is hoping to set up alternative industries (food, finance, personal care, health, and travel) which are halal.  That means for Muslims and by Muslims.

Here is an old article that illustrates how separate the halal slaughter industry is:  http://www.voanews.com/english/news/usa/Local-US-Farmers-Cater-to-Muslim-Traditions-104110673.html

2.1 Halal Food means food permitted under the Islamic Law and should fulfil the       following conditions:

The Codex General Guidelines for the use of the term "Halal" were adopted by the Codex Alimetarius Commission at its 22nd Session, 1997. They have been sent to all Member Nations and Associate Members of FAO and WHO as an advisory text, and it is for individual governments to decide what use they wish to make of the Guidelines.

2.1.1 Does not consist of or contain anything which is considered to be unlawful
         according to Islamic Law;

All lawful land animals should be slaughtered in compliance with the rules laid down in the Codex Recommended Code of Hygienic Practice for Fresh Meat and the following requirements:

3.2.1 The person should be a Muslim who is mentally sound and knowledgeable of the Islamic slaughtering procedures.
3.2.2 The animal to be slaughtered should be lawful according to Islamic Law.
3.2.3 The animal to be slaughtered should be alive or deemed to be alive at the time of slaughtering.
3.2.4 The phrase "Bismillah" (In the Name of Allah) should be invoked immediately
before the slaughter of each animal.
3.2.5 The slaughtering device should be sharp and should not be lifted off the animal during the slaughter act.
3.2.6 The slaughter act should sever the trachea, esophagus and main arteries and veins of the neck region.
3.3 PREPARATION, PROcESSING, PACKAGING, TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
All food should be prepared, processed, packaged, transported and stored in such a manner that it complies with the Section 2.1 and 2.1 above and the Codex General Principles on Food Hygiene and other relevant Codex Standards.

These Codex Guidelines conform to Sharia law, which in part states:
[Reliance of the traveler] j17.2 It is unlawful to eat meat
slaughtered by a Zoroastrian, someone who has left Islam
(murtadd, def:08), or an idol worshipper, (O: included with whom
are those (zanadiqa) with corrupt convictions about tenets of
faith that are well-known as essential parts of Islam (def: books
u and v),) or a Christian of the desert Arab tribes (O: the
upshort of which is that it is a necessary condition that the
slaughterer be of a people whose women we are permitted to marry,
whether Muslims, Jews, or Christians).
The goal of the Muslim Brotherhood's global jihad is to establish Sharia law on all.  That includes Sharia-compliant food and food industry.  And, we know Sharia law claims worldwide jurisdiction over Muslims and non-Muslims alike.
